I have seen multiple videos of Shatakshi talking about dance, about how it is a spiritual experience. I am looking to explore Odissi from that aspect. An online course designed by Shatakshi was just what I needed at this point since I don’t live in India currently.

I always felt some pull towards Odissi, but never found a proper institution to learn from. And I was sad about it. I got an email from my friend where I found out about the GEV program and then I visited Shatakshi Ma’am’s Instagram and her dance style impressed me right away.  I am extremely happy to join Nātyaśāla.

Madam Shatakshi Ji is a committed and versatile dancer and I felt that I need to learn and transcend Her teachings to my dance practice. The fact that there is a holistic approach to training made me approach the Academy.

This year my goal has been to be more intentional with my bhakti practice and to work on my mind, body and soul. I love to create art, so I began creating art inspired by bhakti. That led me to starting a new instagram account dedicated to associating with others on the path of bhakti, which then led me to Shatakshi’s Instagram page and I was so inspired by her dance style, her story and the way she explains different steps in her videos. Before learning about Odissi, I was wondering if there was a dance style dedicated to telling Krishna’s pastimes so I was grateful when I found my answer.

I couldn’t find any classes in Hong Kong. Prerecorded video lesson is flexible. Shatakshi is experienced as well. Body conditioning is important for me. Recently, I realised that my body condition is a block for me so I was planning to learn yoga in order to gain better health and body condition.

I am always keen to learn classical dance forms. it always drives me energetic and lively. Odissi is one of most graceful dance forms around others and I always want to master this dance form and represent India in a global platform.

About a decade ago, I had the stamina, flexibility and strength required of a Bharatanatyam performer. I’d thought I wouldn’t be able to get back to that level of fitness, but your videos inspired me to give it another shot.

I watch a lot of dance videos and am in awe of the moves in odissi. I have heard it is a not so easy form to adapt to, yet wanted to challenge myself and give it a try.
